i tried to make a space for the bestest independent movie directors it’s just something that wont

1 cinema has no place online and on small screens

2 despite my best efforts, it’s tough to wade thru the trash (and i did A LOT, using additional intelligences too)

3 the number of good directors making good movies who arent fully in the industry is genuinely low And the ones who are good enough arent just releasing online for free - they have distribution. frankly, if you’re working at this high a level, u dont deserve to be lumped with the shits, so it makes sense.

4 which leaves me looking for a ultra ultra ultra minority of director (very few people are like me btw)

5 indie movie scene has and always will be good but all the big boy distributors are doing all the samey shit. locked off camera, people doing weird things, funny subtle expressions, convoluted social commentaries & a sprinkling of surreal things.

6 22 year old me was right. cinema needs me.

7 and last of all, cinema is in a power struggle that it’s not currently winning - it will be displaced by something better - and thats probable.

8 theres genuinely a lot, A LOT LOT LOT, of movies that have been created Good ones. theyre all locked away because of money money money and deals with companies, even if theyre making pennies But then again, u cant make it free, someone has to host it, someone else wud make money from it, and u still need control over how they exhibit it, and so making it cost kinda fixes this

9 watching movies on my monitor has long passed the threshold of deep wrongness

10 You can watch a movie everyday for the rest of your life and u wont run out of good things to watch

movies are a funny art because they take so long to make and require so much resources Above all, they represent a fixed moment in time for the moviemakers, a memory and a time period of ideas that weighed heavy in their minds. Meaning even the bad ones have great value

Art is weird. It’s not really about lacking in quantity or quality, or it being too abundant

it’s simply about the right thing being there at the right time
