How is it beneficial for you to know that 2224 people died on a boat in the freezing cold north atlantic ocean?

Would it be better for the well-being of all people to simply know less?

Are news outlets, which are already dying publications, spreading constant unnecessary information around because somehow we’ve deluded ourselves into believing we want it?
